I've added a health bar to the Avatar's Portrait so that Player's don't have to have the character screen open to see their current status. Here you can see my Avatar is nearly dead.

I'm implementing an optional rule from AD&D® for allowing characters to not die right at "zero". The original optional rule was to allow characters to go to -10 health. In my game, I want to show case how important Constitution (Con) is in the game by allowing the characters to go to a negative value in Con points. In this screen shot, this rule is shown by turning the previous green health meter into a yellow one. When you run out of yellow, your character is toast!

Of course, to help make the players feel the impact of having their Character nearly dead, is that the game imposes a minus to their chances to hit a target equal to their negative value in health. There's a point where even the easiest of monsters are hard to hit when you're -18 to the die-roll !!
I added a maximize and minimize button to the message block at the bottom of the screen. It got down right annoying to have to use the Page Up / Page Down keyboard buttons and have it increment up and down at a slow rate. Screen shot...
