At the end of July, I declared that the Game Editor was complete, but would evaluate that as I go. Well...as I was pondering what to work on for August I realized there was one more feature about the editor that needs to go in; the User Defined Paths. So that will be top of the list for August.
Things to work on this month:
- Paths
- Down-grading Graphics
- Collision Testing
Down-grading graphics? Huh...? Yes, that's what I said. After watching a video on YouTube, giving advice about producing video games for the first time, the recommendation was to make the simplest "playable" game, even if the graphics were terrible, or even simple blocks (tennis anyone?).
So yes, for this particular project I'll down-grade the graphics and in a later release hit on better graphics.
The things-to-do list above is pretty small, and has easy to implement things. They should go pretty quick. I am thinking they'll get done and I'll have a lot of the month left to work on other things.
I'll try to get a simple Monster-AI set up so they react to Avatars and try to engage them. I'll also work on the underlying combat system and the 1st-level spells available to spell casters.
