25 October, 2005 I will be keeping a log here as to events and news...
One of the
current projects, an online video game, is making some great progress now that the graphics
are getting integrated with the code. An initial test release should be ready by mid March,
'06. I'm working on a Beta-test release by May - which will go right into production
release.
22 Dec, 2008 Okay...I'm a slacker when it comes to managing my own web
page. My apologizes to those who might of actually wanted to read a journal to see what was
going on.
The last posting above shows that I had
been making progress on my project. Well, as things go, the design document got altered
in mid-swing. What I had been doing was putting my code into a chat program for testing
purposes so it would be easier to read results in text format to ensure data was being
transferred properly. I had some testers volunteering their time to help me out by playing
with the chat program. They liked the chat program so much that they asked me to design the
whole game to revolve around it being a 'chat program' like Yahoo Instant Messenger or MSN
Live.
The game in it's new version is now going
through its growing pains of having to deal with Windows Vista. I guess I will be going
back to my old laptop with Windows XP as the operating system.
03 Jan, 2009 Happy New Year everyone! The game is progressing! My server is
stable and daily I'm adding new functionality to the project. Players can now log in, make
characters and enter the game world with them. For now I refer to it as an over-glorified
chat program - but at least it's a stable system. Thanks to my testers Michael Brown and Joe
Singletary (Best wishes to Joe, he was in a car accident).
16 April, 2009. Well, I've gotten a basic combat system working now. My
testers are actually 'playing' the game when they have a chance. I'm now setting about adding
'Items' into the game for the players to pick up and use. So many of the things I implemented
from my combat system carried over to the 'Monsters' and 'Items' concepts, that things are
progressing along nicely. A friend of mine introduced me to an Artist who he use to work with.
I'm going to ask her to help me with the art so I can accelerate fulfilling my need for
representations of the Items I'm about to add. Her name is Alina Byoun, and her link can be
found on my home page.
29 July, 2009. Alright then! I've pretty much finished the 'Market and Trade'
system. The players can buy and sell at the various markets, and trade with one another. Plus,
they can arrange their Items within their inventory.
